5 BEST BEACHES IN HVAR – NEAR HVAR TOWN
These are some of the prettiest beaches near Hvar Town. Most of them have great amenities, though a few are more simple. You can reach them by walking, car, or by taxi if you’re arriving by catamaran. Since you probably won’t have time to visit them all, read through the blog to find out which one is the best for you.

DUBOVICA BEACH
Dubovica Beach is one of the most scenic and popular beaches on the island of Hvar, and honestly, one of the prettiest in all of Croatia. It’s located about 8 kilometers east of Hvar Town, which makes it just a quick 15-minute drive away. The beach is big, pebbly, with crystal-clear water and beautiful Mediterranean vegetation all around. It’s absolutely stunning and well-known for its picture-perfect setting.
While the look of it is absolutely breathtaking, it’s not the easiest to reach. You need to park along the main road and walk down a steep, rocky path for about 15 minutes. There’s not much parking, and the climb back up can be exhausting. However, I’d say it’s absolutely worth it. You can also access it by taxi boat from Hvar Town, which is definitely a more enjoyable option, so check that out.
There aren’t any amenities besides a small beach bar and a local konoba where you can grab some drinks or food. So, make sure you bring everything you need with you. It’s best to arrive early in the day during summer months, since parking is limited and the beach can become crowded.

VELO ZARACE BEACH
Velo Zarace is honestly one of the most stunning beaches I’ve seen in Croatia. It’s tucked into a deep bay, surrounded by rocky cliffs and gorgeous greenery. The beach is pebbly, and the crystal-clear water makes it a perfect spot for swimming and snorkeling. It’s a great escape from the more crowded touristy beaches around Hvar, though don’t expect to have it all to yourself! It’s just a bit quieter than the more popular spots.
Amenities here are definitely limited. There are no sunbeds, umbrellas, or showers. However, there are two beachfront restaurants and bars where you can grab a bite and enjoy the view!

This beach is located about 6 kilometers east of Hvar Town. It’s not too far, but getting there isn’t exactly the easiest. You’ll need to drive down a narrow, winding dirt road that leads to the beach. This road is definitely not for the faint-hearted or inexperienced drivers. There’s limited parking along the roadside, so it’s best to come early if you want to snag a spot. If you’re not up for the drive, you can also reach the beach by boat. Either way, it’s totally worth it for this stunning slice of Hvar’s coastline.

POKONJI DOL BEACH
Pokonji Dol Beach is a popular pebble beach located just about 1.5 kilometers from Hvar Town, so it’s super easy to reach on foot or by bike or car. It’s famous for its crystal-clear waters and beautiful surroundings. This beach is the perfect spot for relaxing, sunbathing, swimming, or trying out water activities.
It’s a pebbly beach with a few sandy areas, so it’s easy to relax and comfortably wade into the sea. To make things even more comfortable, I’d recommend bringing water shoes! The beach has plenty of amenities. There are sunbeds and parasols for rent, as well as equipment like canoes and pedal boats if you want to explore the nearby bays. There are also showers and toilets available to you. Plus, with two restaurants nearby, you can enjoy some delicious local food and cold drinks right by the beach.
There are a few ways to reach the beach — on foot, by car, or by boat. If you prefer to walk, it’ll take about 20-30 minutes from Hvar Town. The walk is easy and mostly shaded, so it’s a pleasant stroll. For a quicker option, you can drive, and it’ll only take about 5 minutes to get from Hvar Town to the beach. There’s a fairly large parking lot near the beach, so parking is pretty easy. And of course, if it’s an option for you, getting there by boat is incredible!

KRIZA BEACH
Kriza Beach is the closest beach to Hvar Town, just a 10-minute walk from the center. If you’re on a day trip and want a quick swim, this is a great option. The beach is fairly small, so the crowds arrive quickly, but if you get there early in the morning, you can snag a good spot and enjoy a relaxing day by the sea.
Kriza Beach is a pebble beach with clear waters and a gentle slope, but the swimming area is a bit limited due to some moored boats nearby. The amenities are basic, so if you plan to stay all day, it’s a good idea to come prepared. That said, since you’re so close to town, it’s easy to pop into Hvar for anything you might need. During the summer, you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas to make your time at the beach even more comfortable.

BONJ BEACH
Bonj Beach is absolutely stunning and one of the prettiest beaches on Hvar. The beach has a mix of pebbled areas and concrete slabs, with plenty of natural shade around it. While you can definitely grab a towel and head there for a regular beach day, Bonj Beach is now mostly known for the Beach Club Hvar, a luxury beach club right on the beach.
If you want to enjoy the stunning beach bar, you can rent private cabanas or luxury sunbeds, and the amazing staff will bring food and drinks directly to you. It’s the perfect place for anyone looking to feel like royalty while relaxing on the beach. The Beach Club Hvar’s restaurant serves delicious Mediterranean cuisine, with a focus on fresh seafood and light dishes, so you’re definitely in for a treat. Plus, it’s just a 10-minute walk from Hvar port, making it super easy to get to. Of course, the beach bar is on the pricier side, but if you can afford it, it’s truly a one-of-a-kind experience!
CONCLUSION: BEST BEACHES IN HVAR
These are only a few beaches near Hvar Town you can enjoy, but there are also many all over the island totally worth visiting. Beaches on Hvar definitely won’t disappoint you, so I’d highly recommend checking out at least a few of them!
