6 PUBLIC DUBROVNIK BEACHES IN OR CLOSE TO THE OLD TOWN
BANJE BEACH
The most popular beach in Dubrovnik is Banje beach. Banje is the closest “real” beach to the old town, only 5 minutes from the Ploče gate. Because of it, tourists often use it for a swim break between activities in the old town.
The beach is beautiful – half of it is public where you can come with your towel and relax, while the other half is private and you need to rent sun loungers and beach umbrellas. There is a bar and a restaurant, and the music is always playing. Due to its crowdedness it’s never the first choice for locals, but if you want a quick dip, it will do its job.

The beach is family friendly and has an easy entrance into the sea. If you’re planning on visiting this beach often, the best time would be early morning.

DANCE BEACH
Dance beach is on the other side of the old town, closer to Pile gate. It will take you around 10 minutes from Pile gate to reach it.
The beach is fairly small, and it’s not your typical beach. The bay has several huge rocks from which you can enter the sea. If not, you can choose to lay down on one of the concrete platforms there and sunbathe.
Dance is not really appropriate for families or people who aren’t good swimmers, so keep that in mind. There is a bar on the beach so you can have a drink after swimming, but there are no sun beds or parasols.

SULIC BEACH
One of the smallest Dubrovnik beaches, Šulić beach is a gem you should definitely visit. It’s only a few minutes of walking from the Pile gate. The beach is really small so there won’t be much laying around on the beach, but the views are worth it.
Šulić beach is situated between two cliffs and has an incredible view of fort Lovrijenac. It’s one of the most unique Dubrovnik beaches.

There is a beach bar as well, so if you don’t want to be on a tiny beach with all the swimmers get yourself a drink and enjoy the view. The beach is family friendly, but it can get quite crowded!

SV. JAKOV BEACH
The prettiest of all Dubrovnik beaches is absolutely St. Jakov beach. Situated around 15 minutes of walking from the old town, this beach gives you the most incredible views of the old town.
Due to its beauty, it’s always got people, so it won’t be ideal for you if you like your alone time. During the day it’s really crowded but you can enjoy it in the early morning or later in the afternoon. The beach offers sun beds to rent and it has a small bar.
It’s family friendly and I would recommend visiting it at least once for the incredible view of the old town!

BELLEVUE BEACH
This beach is around 20 minutes away from the old town but it’s totally worth the walk. The gorgeous pebbly beach is situated right next to Rixos Hotel and most often isn’t as crowded as Banje or Sv. Jakov beach. It’s not huge, but it still has a bar where you can get drinks.
The most unique thing about this beach is that it has water polo matches. People come and cheer for their water polo club and its quite a spectacle if you manage to catch it!

KOMARDA ROCK BEACH
This one isn’t as much of a beach as the other ones! Mainly because it’s mostly just concrete or rocks near the sea with stairs leading into the water. The perk of Komarda beach is the fact that you get a gorgeous view of the old town since this beach is near the Dubrovnik Harbour.
There is no amenities at this beach, but you’re close to grocery stores so you can get anything you need before going to the beach. This beach isn’t crowded and there’s always enough space to truly enjoy your swim, so if you’re open to rocky beaches give this one a try!
4 ADDITIONAL EXCELLENT DUBROVNIK BEACHES
COPACABANA PRIVATE BEACH
The most popular of private Dubrovnik beaches is Copacabana beach. If you’re one of those people who love lounging on comfy chairs and eating great food by the sea, this beach is for you.
The beach is rarely crowded as most people opt for free public beaches, so if you want to have a relaxing afternoon on a sun bed while listening to an amazing DJ, this beach is for you.
MANDRAČ BEACH
Mandrač Beach is a public beach in Babin Kuk, 20 minutes from the old town by car. It’s a pebble beach, very clean and surprisingly quiet. A lot of locals go there, which means is worth checking it out.
You can rent a sun bed or a sun umbrella and enjoy your peace at Mandrač beach. The beach has free showers and a bar where you can get drinks. If you want to escape the tourist crowds, this beach is for you!
PASJAČA BEACH
Named as one of the best beaches in Europe, stunning Pasjača beach is another one out of the old town and worth travelling for. Situated close to the Dubrovnik airport, in a small village Popovici, this beautiful beach is an experience you don’t want to miss.
You’ll often hear it’s challenging to reach Pasjača because the way down to the beach is quite steep, and it’s very tiring coming back up the stairs. It’s worth it though. You’ll be swimming under a cliff and the views are incredible.
Don’t forget to bring your own food and drinks as there’s no beach bar there and enjoy the swimming!

KUPARI BEACH
One of the best beaches outside of Dubrovnik is in Župa Dubrovačka, and it’s called Kupari beach. Kupari is a long pebbly beach with easy entrance to the sea.
It can get quite crowded on the hottest days, but if you want some peace, a 2-minute walk will bring you to concrete platform beach where there’s almost no one and you can freely enjoy your swim.
This beach is next to a huge abandoned hotel complex so you can explore the old ruins if you feel like doing something adventurous. Kupari beach is absolutely family friendly, with many children playing there at all times.
