HOW FAR APART ARE THESE TWO CITIES?
Both Split and Dubrovnik are coastal towns in Croatia. Split acts as the center of the Dalmatia region and is the second biggest city in Croatia. Dubrovnik is in the south of the country and it’s much smaller than Split. The two cities are not terribly far apart, but they are also not each other’s ideal day trips. Dubrovnik is around 200 kilometers away from Split (around 125 miles). It will take you from 3 to 5 hours to reach Dubrovnik from Split, depending on the means of transportation you choose to take.

3 BEST WAYS TO TRAVEL FROM SPLIT TO DUBROVNIK
There are three best ways to get from Split to Dubrovnik and all of them are going to be explained in depth in this blog post. After reading this post you will have a clear vision of how to travel from Split to Dubrovnik in a way that’s perfect for you!
1. SPLIT TO DUBROVNIK BY CAR
The easiest and most comfortable way to get from Split to Dubrovnik is by car. If you’re road tripping and have your own car this is going to be a breeze for you. If you don’t have a car, you can rent one at one of many rent-a-cars in Croatia. The car ride lasts around 3 hours and your drive is going to be super easy because Croatia has excellent highways. You do have to pay the toll but it is not too expensive – it’s somewhere around 10-20 euros. If you go by car you can go over the new Pelješac Bridge and avoid Bosnia, or you can go over the border and stop in Bosnia as well.
2. SPLIT TO DUBROVNIK BY BUS
The cheapest and probably most popular way of traveling from Split to Dubrovnik is by bus. Flixbus has really cheap bus tickets (from 20-30 euros) and they often have night lines which are VERY loved by tourists. You can take the night bus and be in Dubrovnik early in the morning. Keep in mind that the bus lines still sometimes go over Bosnia so you need to have your passport/ID if you’re traveling by bus, otherwise you won’t be able to cross the border. Bring snacks and have fun!

3. SPLIT TO DUBROVNIK BY PRIVATE TRANSFER
If it’s within your budget, a private transfer could be the best way for you. Sometimes, if you don’t have a car, it’s cheaper to pay for a private transfer than to rent a car and drive yourself. You can get a private transfer at many different places online, for example, the one I found is on Get Your Guide. The transfer is around 170 euros. All you need to do is sit back, relax and enjoy your drive to Dubrovnik.

The first and most important thing you must see is the Dubrovnik Old Town which includes the city walls, the streets of the old town, and the Lovrijenac Fortress. The old town is also the perfect place for lovely romantic dinners.
You also have an incredible amount of islands near Dubrovnik, and you must visit at least some of them. The most popular islands are Lokrum (15 minutes by boat) and Elaphiti islands (Lopud, Koločep, and Šipan – an hour by boat). If you can visit only one island, I highly recommend Lopud – it’s my favorite summer destination.
