Hi all! 👋

I’m planning to take the ferry from Drvenik to Sućuraj (Hvar) on a Saturday in mid-June with a car. I’ll be driving up to Drvenik from Dubrovnik that morning, and I’m trying to figure out how tightly I need to plan things.

A few specific questions:

  1. Can I reserve a vehicle spot in advance? Is it possible to book a car spot online for this route, or is it strictly first-come, first-served when you arrive at the port?

  2. How large do vehicle lines usually get on Saturdays in June? Since I’m coming from Dubrovnik, I’m wondering how early I realistically need to arrive in Drvenik. Are lines already long by mid-morning in peak season?

  3. Do I need to aim for the first ferry of the day? Or is it generally possible to catch a later morning / early afternoon sailing without risking being stuck for hours?

Any insight from people who’ve done this drive + ferry combo would be hugely appreciated — especially real-world timing tips and how early you arrived 😅

Thanks in advance!

Hey, since its mid June, Saturday I would arrive at least 1 hour ealier for the ferry departure to hopefully be able to fit on the ferry as you reserve your spot by parking in the line (first come first served).

I always take this ferry route due to shorter ferry ride compared to Split-Stari Grad. Heres example: Hvar Day Trip Itinerary: Best Things to see and do on Hvar

On weekends expect larger lines due to locals also going to relax for the weekend to the island.

If you are aiming for the early ferry and last ferry in the day be careful as most of people ( workers, deliveries) also go at that time so they can finish work and return with afternoon ferry. So its better to be early. Also some parts of the road from Drvenik towards Hvar are narrow and only allow 1 vehicle to pass in the corner so be careful when driving.
