I am traveling to Croatia in July with my family (husband and 2 kids age 13 and 11). Visiting Croatia has been a dream ever since my husband and I saw a nature documentary about Plitvice over 20 years ago and I'm so excited that this dream is coming true!

We are staying on Korcula for 7 nights and are wondering if taking a day trip to Dubrovnik is worth it. We would take the passenger catamaran from Korcula. I am interested in seeing the old town and exploring the city for a day but I'm starting to wonder what we would see in Dubrovnik that we could not see in Korcula old town? I understand that Dubrovnik is bigger so there would be more old town to see, but also hoards of tourists. As a family we are more interested in nature and getting to explore local attractions and hidden gems than we are seeing big tourist attractions, unless those big tourist attractions offer something unique and worthwhile that you can't find anywhere else. I'm having a hard time figuring out what Dubrovnik offers that is unique relative to other cities with old towns, old buildings, rich history, and spectacular beauty that seems to be so abundant throughout Croatia.

For context we will not be spending much time in other cities, after Korcula we are spending 3 nights outside of Omis, then 2 nights in Rastoke, then 1 night in Zagreb before catching an early flight.

Would we regret not visiting Dubrovnik? If so, why?
