10 BEST BEACHES ON PAG ISLAND, CROATIA (+ MY FAVOURITE ONES!)

Pag is one of the most unique islands in Croatia, and it’s especially famous for its incredible beaches. That’s exactly why this guide to my 10 best beaches on Pag Island will tell you everything you need to know.

If you want to experience truly unique scenery in Croatia, Pag is honestly one of the best destinations you can add to your itinerary. The island looks completely different from the rest of the Croatian islands, and you notice that immediately the moment you arrive. Pag is also home to some of the most stunning beaches in the country, and in this guide I’ll share my absolute favourites.

These are just my personal top picks, but honestly there are so many beaches on Pag that it would be impossible to include all of them. And at the end, I’ll also tell you which ones were my absolute favourites overall!

10 BEST BEACHES ON PAG ISLAND:

CISTA BEACH

Cista Beach is absolutely incredible! It’s located between Novalja and Kolan on the northeastern side of Pag, and it’s one of the clearest and most beautiful beaches on the island. The sea here is calm and really blue, while the beach itself is long and pebbly. The pebbles here are much finer and softer than the typical rocky/pebbly beaches you often find around Croatia so this one is more sand-like!

What really makes Cista Beach special is how peaceful and relaxing it feels, while still offering enough amenities to make spending the whole day there comfortable. The water stays shallow near the shore, which makes it especially great for swimming and very family-friendly. Kids can easily play in the sea without worries, and there’s plenty of space for everyone.

During summer, you’ll find amenities like parking (around €5 for the whole day), a beach bar, and sunbed rentals. The beach bar isn’t very large though, so during peak season it can get crowded. I’d recommend bringing some of your own snacks and drinks just in case. And if you’re not planning on renting sunbeds or umbrellas, definitely bring your own sun protection because there’s almost no natural shade on the beach.

SVETI DUH BEACH

Sveti Duh Beach is located very close to Cista Beach, and it’s another one of the most popular family-friendly beaches on Pag. Honestly, the two beaches are quite similar, so you can easily choose one or the other depending on where you’re staying or which atmosphere you prefer.

Sveti Duh has a shallow sandy-pebble seabed and calm, warm water. The sea stays shallow for a long distance, which makes it perfect for kids and for anyone who just wants to relax in the water without needing to properly swim. During summer, you’ll find amenities like paid parking, a beach bar and restaurant, showers, toilets, and sunbed rentals. And just like at Cista Beach, there’s very little natural shade, so if you’re not renting sunbeds and umbrellas, definitely bring your own parasol and good sun protection.

PRNJICA BEACH

Finally, the last beach I’ll mention along this stretch of coastline is Prnjica Beach. It’s also located close to Cista Beach, just a few kilometres from Novalja, and it’s equally beautiful.

What makes Prnjica special is that it feels much more natural and peaceful than many of the more developed beaches on Pag. It’s also noticeably calmer and quieter than both Cista and Sveti Duh Beach, even during summer. The water is still crystal clear, but the beach itself is smaller and has a more untouched atmosphere.

Since it’s a more natural beach, I’d recommend bringing water shoes, although depending on your preference you may end up not needing them. Amenities here are very limited, so it’s best to bring your own water, snacks, and sun protection.

RUCICA BEACH

Rucica Beach is probably the most famous beach on Pag, and it’s often considered the island’s most beautiful beach as well. It’s located near the village of Metajna on the northeastern side of the island, and it’s also the starting point of the famous Life on Mars Trail. Rucica is special for the dramatic, almost moon-like landscape surrounding it. Honestly, there really aren’t many beaches in Croatia that look anything like this one. The white rocky cliffs, turquoise sea, and barren hills create one of the most unique coastal landscapes in the country.

There are some amenities available, like parking, a restaurant, and seasonal beach bars, but overall the beach still feels very natural and untouched. One important thing to know is that there’s basically no shade, so if you’re visiting during summer definitely come prepared with plenty of water and sun protection. The beach can work for families too, but I’d especially recommend it for couples, photographers, and more adventurous travellers who want to combine relaxing by the sea with hiking and exploring the incredible scenery around it.

BERITNICA BEACH

Beritnica Beach is a real hidden gem on Pag, and it’s not easy to reach, which is exactly what makes it so peaceful and special. It’s part of the famous Life on Mars Trail, so you either have to start from Rucica Beach and hike towards it, or reach it by boat if you decide to rent one.

What makes Beritnica so unique is its wild, untouched setting and the dramatic rock formations rising straight out of the sea. The three iconic rocks just offshore are especially popular with photographers, and honestly, they look unreal in person. There are no real amenities here, so you definitely need to come prepared with water, snacks, and strong sun protection.

It’s not the easiest beach for small children because of the rocky access and lack of facilities, but for older kids, couples, and adventurous travellers, it can be an incredibly fun and memorable experience.

SIMUNI BEACH

Simuni Beach is perfect if you’re looking for a relaxing family holiday on Pag. It’s located near the fishing village of Simuni on the western side of the island, very close to the well-known camping resort area that’s especially popular with families. This beach offers a really nice combination of crystal-clear water, pine tree shade, and a calm atmosphere. Pine shade is something that’s actually quite rare on Pag, but much more typical of other parts of Croatia.

Because it’s so close to family-friendly camps, the amenities are excellent and include cafés, restaurants, showers, toilets, parking, sunbeds, and even nearby shops. I wouldn’t say it’s the most visually dramatic beach on the island, but it’s definitely one of the most kid-friendly and comfortable options on Pag. If you’re travelling with children, staying somewhere nearby is a really good idea.

PROSIKA BEACH

Prosika Beach is, in my opinion, one of the prettiest beaches on Pag because the sea here just looks stunning all the time. It’s located right in Pag Town, which makes it super convenient. You can literally stay in town and just walk to the beach for a swim. Because of that, it’s also one of the most popular family-friendly beaches on the island.

When you combine shallow, sandy shoreline with how close it is to restaurants, cafés, and hotels, Prosika Beach really ends up being one of the best ones available. You also get plenty of amenities nearby, including beach bars, showers, playgrounds, parking, and sunbed rentals during the summer season. Overall, it’s a really great option if you want to stay somewhere where you can easily combine beach time with restaurants, bars, and everything else you need within walking distance.

ZRCE BEACH

If you’re looking for a great party in Croatia, you’ve probably already heard of Zrce Beach. It’s located just outside Novalja and is internationally known as the biggest party beach in the country. Zrce Beach is famous for its beach club scene, electronic music festivals, and nonstop summer party atmosphere. The most popular clubs like Papaya Club and Aquarius Club attract visitors from all over Europe.

The beach itself is actually really beautiful, with clear water and a great swimming spot, but it’s definitely not suitable for families with children because of the constant parties and loud music. This is also the beach with some of the most facilities on Pag. You’ll find bars, restaurants, water sports, lockers, sunbeds, taxis, parking, and more. To get there easily, it’s best to stay in or near Novalja.

PLAT BEACH

Plat Beach is a quieter beach near Zubovici on the northern side of Pag. It’s one of the smaller, less crowded beaches on the island, known for its peaceful atmosphere, crystal-clear water, and really beautiful sunsets.

Most people who come here are simply looking to relax, but the beach itself isn’t very big, so in summer it can still get a bit busy at times. Amenities are quite limited, so it’s best to bring your own food, drinks, and sun protection or shade. Overall, it’s also suitable for families with children, especially if you’re looking for a calmer beach day away from the more crowded spots.

CASKA BEACH

Caska Beach is located near Zrce Beach in a long sheltered bay close to Novalja, which makes it a convenient option if you’re staying in the area. The beach is known for its shallow, sandy seabed, which is ideal for paddleboarding and relaxed swimming. It’s generally a good spot for families and kids thanks to the calm, shallow water.

You’ll also find some amenities here, including beach bars, restaurants, parking, water sports rentals, and sunbeds during the summer season. However, while Caska is one of the more family-friendly beaches on Pag, it’s not necessarily one of the most impressive on the island in my opinion. There are quite a few others I’d personally recommend first. Still, it’s easy to reach by car and a solid option if you’re already in the Novalja area.

MY FAVOURITE BEACH ON PAG ISLAND

My favourite beaches on Pag are definitely Cista Beach and Rucica Beach. Cista Beach is just absolutely stunning. It has a soft, almost sandy-like seabed, incredibly clear turquoise water, and amazing views that make it perfect for a full day by the sea. Rucica Beach, on the other hand, is completely iconic. The scenery around it is unreal, and honestly it’s one of the most unique beaches you can visit in all of Croatia. It feels almost otherworldly. Just keep in mind that the road down to Rucica can feel a bit intimidating since it’s narrow but still a two-way street, but it’s completely worth it once you arrive.

CONCLUSION: BEST BEACHES ON PAG ISLAND

Pag really has a great mix of beaches, so you can easily find something for anyone. For easy, relaxed beach days, Sveti Duh Beach, Cista Beach, and Simuni Beach are some of the best choices, especially if you’re travelling with family. Zrce Beach is obviously the go-to spot for nightlife and beach clubs, but for something more iconic and visually unique, Rucica Beach and Beritnica Beach are the absolute winners. Overall, you really can’t go wrong with any of them, it just depends on the kind of experience you’re after.
