DUBROVNIK BOAT TOUR: SAIL ON A STUNNING PIRATE SHIP TIRENA!

Have you ever been on a pirate ship? That’s a boat tour you can’t miss when visiting Dubrovnik!

Each time we visit a new place we try our best to find an activity that will be an incredible memory for us. While swimming at beautiful beaches and partying in the old town sound incredible, we often search for something more memorable.

In this blog post, I am reviewing one of our favourite activites from this summer in Dubrovnik – a boat tour on an incredible 16^th century galleon replica.

WHAT’S A GALLEON SHIP?

Galleon ships were iconic merchant vessels that played a crucial role in the Age of Exploration. Galleons were big, sporting three or four masts with sails that could catch the wind from any direction.

These ships helped brave explorers sail to uncharted territories and bring riches back home. The navy used galleons as warships in the 16^th and 17^th century, but those warships were made to be faster and sturdier than the merchant ones.

These galleon ships are what we know as pirate ships. The navy hunted down pirates on galleons, and pirates often stole those ships.

While Dubrovnik wasn’t a pirate but a merchant town, this ship and the activity represent a stolen, now pirate ship with the whole crew dressed as pirates!

PIRATE SHIP ACTIVITIES:

From Dubrovnik: Tirena Three Islands Boat Tour & Lunch

One of the activites they offer is a day trip to Elaphiti islands. The tour lasts 8 hours and it includes sailing to 3 beautiful islands – Koločep, Šipan, and Lopud.

Each of those islands is a magical and very peaceful location you’ll enjoy. There’s not much to do on those islands, so you’ll mostly relax, walk around, swim, and probably grab a drink.

The biggest and most popular island out of the three is Lopud. On Lopud, there is a gorgeous, sandy beach called Šunj, so make sure you check it out.

On the boat tour, you have a traditional Dalmatian lunch included in the price. You can choose between 3 options for lunch, one of them being vegetarian as well. Along with the food, you get a drink of choice – wine, beer, or juice.

The whole journey you’re listening to music and enjoying the incredible views of the Adriatic Sea.

Very pleasant activity. We are very happy to have been able to participate in this experience. The boat is beautiful, the food (fish and chicken) is very good. The guide speaks French very well and remains very available. We just regret that the soft drinks are not included throughout the visit in this heat.

Dubrovnik: Panoramic Sunset Pirate Boat Tour with Live Music

Another activity they offer is the sunset boat tour. If you’re not interested in the whole day trip to Elaphiti islands, you can pick a sunset tour which will take you around the city walls and Lokrum island.

Spend an hour sailing the Adriatic Sea with a glass of champagne and incredible live music. The tour also includes a very knowledgeable tour guide who will tell you all about the city of Dubrovnik.

What activity did we choose?

We stayed right next to the restaurant where Tirena is anchored, so we used this opportunity for a solo adventure. Therefore, we sailed from Konoba Galijun to the old town and we were alone on this incredible ship. We explored every inch of it and it was quite incredible.

If we had to choose one of these two activities we would choose the day trip to Elaphiti. You get more value for your money since the day trip is 8 hours long, and you visit one of our favourite islands – Lopud!
