Hi, we have 4 nights in croatia with at least 3 planned in split as a base to visit krka, trogir, hear, other islands. Should we leave split early and drive to Dubrovnik to spend a day and one night before flying back to US or stay in Split and get a flight from there. Not sure if just as much to see in split vicinity that we won't mind missing Dubrovnik. Thanks!

Hi! If you’re planning to base yourself in and around Split, I’d honestly skip Dubrovnik this time. Getting there would mean a fairly long drive on the second-to-last day of your trip, and that time would be much better spent exploring more of the Split area and actually enjoying it. With only 4 nights, time goes by very quickly, and you can easily fill those days just around Split. You’ll probably even feel like it’s too short.

Dubrovnik is absolutely stunning, but it really deserves at least 4 nights on its own, combined with other destinations in southern Croatia. Adding that in this itinerary would just be too rushed.

Instead, I’d suggest something like this: one day exploring Split, one day visiting Krka and Trogir together, and then an overnight stay on either Hvar or Brač. Even with that plan, you won’t be able to see all of the nearby islands. That’s why adding Dubrovnik into these 4 days doesn’t quite make sense, especially if you want to properly explore each place.
