8 BEST BEACHES ON KORCULA ISLAND (+ MY FAVOURITE ONE!)

If you’re looking for the best beaches on Korcula Island, I’ll tell you all my favourites in this blog post!

Korcula is a stunning island, and actually my favourite in Croatia. One of the biggest reasons for that is its beautiful beaches and crystal-clear sea. I’ve spent quite a bit of time on Korcula over the years, and these are the beaches I always recommend checking out during your visit!

WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF BEACHES ON KORCULA?

Korcula island has a bit of everything, which is one of the reasons I love it so much. Most of the island’s beaches are pebbly or tucked away in rocky coves, which is pretty typical for Croatia. However, Korcula also has a few sandy beaches, especially around Lumbarda. Sandy beaches are quite rare in Croatia, so if that’s what you prefer, Korcula is one of the few islands where you can still enjoy them. Overall, the beaches are beautiful, well-kept, and most have at least some amenities nearby, so all you really have to do is find your spot and enjoy the crystal-clear sea!

8 BEST BEACHES ON KORCULA ISLAND

ZITNA BEACH

Zitna Beach is one of those beaches that still feels like a hidden gem, even though it’s become much more popular in recent years. It’s located in a beautiful bay near the village of Cara and it’s absolutely worth visiting. This pebble beach is surrounded by green hills and has some of the clearest water you’ll find on the island.

The easiest way to get to Zitna is by car, so I’d mainly recommend it if you have one or don’t mind taking a taxi. There’s a parking area above the beach, but it isn’t very big, so try to arrive early during the summer. There’s also a narrow road leading to the parking where people often leave their cars if the main lot is full. From there, you’ll need to walk down a flight of stairs to the beach and back up later, but it’s nothing too difficult.

During the summer, there’s usually a beach bar and a small restaurant, so you can easily spend a few hours here without needing to leave. It’s a beautiful beach and one I definitely recommend, but keep in mind it gets busy. We visited in June and it was already quite crowded, even though some of the larger beaches on the island still had plenty of space. If you want a quieter experience, I’d recommend coming early in the morning.

PRIZBA BEACH

Prizba is a small village on the southern side of Korcula, so it isn’t home to just one beach but rather a collection of swimming spots along the coastline. We usually visit the main Prizba Beach (here on Google Maps!), which is the largest beach in the area.

The village is easy to reach by car and has a really relaxed and local atmosphere, so you’ll mostly find locals enjoying the beaches. Parking can be a bit tricky during the summer, so it’s worth checking where you can leave your car before you arrive.

One of the best things about Prizba is that everything is within walking distance. You’ll find restaurants, cafés, shops, and accommodation nearby, so it’s easy to spend the whole day here. If you like the atmosphere, it’s also a lovely place to stay. The beaches are typical Croatian pebble beaches, so they’re a great choice for families and anyone looking for a relaxed swim.

PUPNATSKA LUKA BEACH (MY FAVOURITE!)

If someone asked me to recommend just one beach on Korcula Island, this would be it. Pupnatska Luka is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, with unbelievably clear, bright blue water. It’s located on the southern coast, and you’ll need a car or scooter to get there.

The road down is quite winding, so be prepared for a bit of a drive. It’s also a two-way road, which can get a little tricky when there’s a lot of traffic during the summer. Thankfully, there’s parking right by the beach, so you don’t have to worry about that. There are also a great waterfront restaurant where you can stop for lunch or a cold drink while enjoying the incredible views.

The sea here is perfect for swimming and snorkelling, and although it gets busy in July and August, the beach is big enough that it never feels overly crowded. We visited in mid-June and it was almost empty. If you only have time for one beach on Korcula, make it Pupnatska Luka. I really can’t recommend it enough.

BILIN ZAL BEACH

Now let’s talk about the sandy beaches! Bilin Zal Beach is one of the best sandy beaches on Korcula Island, and it’s especially great for families. The sea here is extremely shallow, so it’s perfect if you’re travelling with kids. Honestly, if we weren’t at Pupnatska Luka, we were usually here. Sandy beaches just have a different kind of relaxing atmosphere, and this one is ideal for letting kids play safely in the water.

It’s located near Lumbarda and is easy to reach by car or even on foot if you’re staying nearby. There is a decent amount of parking right next to the beach, but in summer it fills up quickly, so people often park along the main road and walk the rest of the way.

There’s also a restaurant right on the beach, so you can easily grab a drink or a meal just a few steps from your spot. The beach itself might not be the most scenic sandy beach you’ll ever see, but if you love sandy shores, this one really does the job perfectly.

VELA PRZINA BEACH

Vela Przina Beach is the most popular sandy beach on Korcula Island, and it’s just around the corner from Bilin Zal. It’s literally only about a 5-minute walk away, so you can easily visit both beaches in the same day. It’s also easy to reach by car, bike, or local taxi, and it actually has more parking than Bilin Zal. A lot of people choose to park here and then walk over to the other beach if they want to explore both.

We personally prefer Bilin Zal a bit more, simply because Vela Przina tends to get more crowded. When we visited in mid-June, there were noticeably more people here. Like Bilin Zal, it has a sandy seabed and a gradual entry into the sea, which makes it really popular with families, but you’ll also see couples and groups enjoying it too. Right next to the beach, you’ll find Restaurant Amore, which is a really nice spot with good food and is definitely worth a stop.

BANJE BEACH

Banje Beach isn’t the most stunning beach on the island, but it’s super convenient if you’re staying in Korcula Old Town and don’t have a car. It’s a pebble beach with really nice views back towards the old town walls, and you can walk there from the centre in just a few minutes, so it’s perfect if you just want a quick swim break while exploring the town. Because it’s so close to everything, you’ve got restaurants and facilities nearby, but it does get quite busy since a lot of people without cars end up here.

PORT9 BEACH

Port9 Beach is located in the Port9 resort area, but keep in mind that there are no private beaches in Croatia, so you can still visit even if you’re not staying at the resort. The beach is a mix of pebbles, paved sunbathing areas, and small swimming spots, so you can choose what suits you best. It’s easy to reach by taxi, or you can walk there in around 30 minutes if you don’t have a car. There’s also a water taxi that runs from Korcula’s port to the Port9 resort.

Since it’s part of a resort area, you’ll find plenty of amenities nearby, including restaurants, bars, shops, toilets, and sunbed rentals. If you’re looking for a more comfortable, resort-style beach day, this is a great option to check out.

BADIJA BEACHES

Finally, while this one isn’t actually on Korcula, it’s one of the easiest day trips from Korcula Old Town and perfect if you want to escape the crowds. With a water taxi, you can take a short boat ride (around 10 euros return) to Badija Island and enjoy a peaceful, untouched island with crystal-clear water.

You can walk around the whole island in about an hour, and along the way you’ll find plenty of swimming spots, from pebble beaches to rocky coves where you can just lay your towel down and relax by the sea.

If you want sunbeds, you’ll usually find some near the monastery right where you get off the boat, but there aren’t many other facilities, so it’s best to bring your own water and snacks. In summer there’s sometimes a restaurant open. We were there in mid-June and it wasn’t open yet. Overall, it’s a great option if you want wild beaches and a quieter day away from the busier spots.

CONCLUSION: BEST BEACHES ON KORCULA

Korcula Island has so many beautiful beaches, and there are still plenty I haven’t even had the chance to visit yet and would love to, like Vaja Beach, Luka Beach, and La Banya Beach Club. Even the ones I’ve already visited clearly show just how stunning Korcula’s coastline is. My absolute favourite is still Pupnatska Luka, although all the other beaches have their own charm as well. Whichever you choose, you really can’t go wrong.
