WHERE ELSE CAN YOU STAY?
FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best area to stay in Croatia?
It really depends on what you want to visit, but I’d say base yourself in Dubrovnik and explore south Croatia or base yourself in Split and explore the islands nearby!
Are hotels in Croatia expensive?
Hotel prices in Croatia vary by season and location. Destinations on the coast such as Dubrovnik, Split, and Hvar are always the most expensive during summer, while inland areas and shoulder seasons often offer more affordable options!
How far in advance should I book a hotel in Croatia?
If you plan on travelling between June and August, booking 3–6 months in advance is recommended, especially for popular destinations like Split and Dubrovnik. Otherwise you risk booking either places you don’t like, or those who are really expensive.
Are Croatia hotels family-friendly?
Yes. Many hotels offer family rooms, children’s pools, kids’ clubs, and easy access to beaches. Family-friendly resorts are common along the Adriatic coast. Here’s my guide to best family hotels in Croatia.
Do Croatian hotels include breakfast?
Many hotels in Croatia include breakfast in the price of the room, particularly mid-range and luxury properties. However at some places you have to pay for it additionally, so it’s always worth checking before booking.
Is it better to stay in a hotel or an apartment in Croatia?
Hotels in Croatia typically provide more amenities and services, while apartments often offer better value, extra space, and kitchen facilities for longer stays. If you’re travelling as a couple or solo I’d say go for a hotel, but for families apartments are better!
Are hotels in Croatia close to the beach?
Many coastal hotels are located within walking distance of beaches, although beach access varies by destination and property. Always check the hotel’s location and guest reviews before booking. I’d say my favourite beachfront hotel is TUI BLUE Adriatic Beach near Makarska, and the worst one is Radisson Blu in Split.
Is Croatia a good destination for luxury hotels?
Yes. Croatia has a growing luxury hospitality sector, with high-end beachfront resorts, boutique heritage hotels, and five-star properties in destinations such as Dubrovnik, Split, and Rovinj. Some of my favourite luxury hotels are Rixos in Dubrovnik, Moeesy in Hvar, and Grand Park in Rovinj.
Are all-inclusive hotels common in Croatia?
All-inclusive hotels are available in Croatia, but they are less common than in destinations like Turkey or Spain. Most properties in Croatia focus on bed & breakfast or half-board options. However, you can still find all-inclusive resorts, particularly in larger beach resorts and family-oriented areas around cities like Porec, Umag, and parts of the Dalmatian coast. My favourite is TUI BLUE Adriatic Beach, but it’s adults-only!
