AMAZING 2 DAYS ON LOPUD: RMH LOPUD LAFODIA HOTEL REVIEW AND FUN THINGS TO DO!

If you’re visiting Dubrovnik, find some peace and relaxation by spending 2 days on Lopud!

Lopud is one of the dreamiest destinations around Dubrovnik, and my absolute favourite place on Earth, so keep reading this blog post to find out where to stay, eat, and what to do!

ABOUT LOPUD

Lopud is a small island 45 minutes away from Dubrovnik. If you like relaxing holidays, you’ll like it much more than Dubrovnik! I’ve spent a lot of time on the island over the past 6 years, and I truly love coming back every summer. Lopud is famous for stunning crystal-clear sea and sandy beaches.

Lopud is one of the three biggest islands in the Elaphiti archipelago, along with Kolocep and Sipan. You can easily reach it from Dubrovnik by ferry or a guided tour. If you only have one day, I would recommend getting a tour to see all three islands, or booking a ferry and only visiting Lopud.

If you’re staying on Lopud, grab a ferry at Gruz port. The ferry costs 10 euros per person for a return trip and it takes 45 minutes.

WHY SPEND 2 DAYS ON LOPUD?

Here are some compelling reasons to visit Lopud, and why you should spend 2 days on the island. If you decide to do a day trip, you’ll still have a great time, but I would highly recommend spending at least one night on the island!

1. Stunning Beaches

The beaches are the best part of Lopud. All the beaches on the island are sandy, so if you’re a fan of sandy beaches, Lopud will be your favourite part of your holiday. The most popular beach on the island is Sunj Beach, but there are many others perfect for a relaxing beach day!

2. Natural Beauty

The island is a perfect blend of pine forests and stunning crystal-clear sea. The vegetation on the island is untouched and it offers shaded paths perfect for hiking and exploring the island. There are also plenty of olive groves and Mediterranean gardens, as well as several viewpoints with breathtaking panoramic views.

3. Historical Sites

Along with beautiful nature and sea, Lopud has a few historical sites worth checking out. Some of them are the Franciscan Monastery, Church of St. Mary, Rector’s Palace, and Fortress Sutvrac.

4. Car-Free Tranquility

My favourite thing about Lopud is the fact that cars are not allowed on the island. Because of that, Lopud offers a quiet and serene environment, ideal for relaxation. On Lopud, you’ll do a lot of walking, and for the times you might not want to walk, there are several golf carts on the island which can take you wherever you need to go. You can also rent a bicycle if you’re staying on the island longer.

5. Charming Village

Finally, Lopud village, the island’s main settlement, is a lovely place to be. It features traditional stone houses which are a perfect setting for scenic walks and photos, as well as many cafes and local restaurants which offer great, fresh Croatian cuisine.

WHERE TO STAY ON LOPUD – RMH LOPUD LAFODIA HOTEL

If you’re searching for the perfect place to stay at while on Lopud, make sure you check out RMH Lopud Lafodia Hotel. We had the pleasure of staying in this resort for a couple of days, and I could not recommend it enough. This hotel is part of Rosaria Marazzi Hotels, a charming Italian brand known for its exceptional hospitality.

It’s situated at the end of Lopud’s waterfront promenade and you can reach it by walking from the Lopud ferry port. If you don’t feel like taking the ferry, RMH Lopud Lafodia has a transfer agency which will be more than happy to pick you up and transfer you to Lopud from Dubrovnik or any other location agreed upon.

HOTEL AMENITIES

The RMH Lopud Lafodia is huge and absolutely stunning. They have several categories of rooms: Classic, Premium, Deluxe, and Superior. These rooms are perfect for any type of guest, whether you’re a couple, a family, or a group of friends. If you want something even more comfortable, you can book one of their bigger suites with modern amenities.

We stayed in a Premium room, which had an amazingly comfortable bed, spacious and clean bathroom (with an excellent shower), and a balcony with one of the most amazing views of Lopud I’ve ever seen. I would come back to this hotel for that balcony view alone!

Besides the lovely rooms, RMH Lopud Lafodia has a very relaxing SPA, outdoor whirpools, and a huge swimming pool with an amazing view of the island. For those who prefer the sea, the hotel has a stunning private beach with crystal-clear sea. The beach is pebbly and it’s perfect for families.

Finally, since we had a half-board booked, we enjoyed breakfasts and dinners at the hotel. The breakfasts were generous and absolutely delicious, with anything you could possibly want for a morning meal, from pastries, eggs, bacon, and cereal to fruits and different drinks. Dinners, on the other hand, were a fine dining experience, with delicious appetizers, main courses, and desserts.

We had the best time eating at this hotel because everything we’ve tried was delicious, but we especially loved the seafood which is a staple meal in Croatia.

Overall, we felt valued and relaxed at RMH Lopud Lafodia Hotel, and I would definitely come back and stay here again, so I highly recommend you check out this hotel if you’re thinking of staying on Lopud island.

THINGS TO DO IN 2 DAYS ON LOPUD

DAY 1: EXPLORE THE ISLAND

Use the first day to explore as much as you can of this charming island!

EXPLORE THE LAFODIA HOTEL

Once you check in, there are so many things you can do in this resort. Give yourself some time to explore the hotel before venturing out and about. I would highly recommend going for a dip at the hotel’s pool, or one of the whirpools next to the hotel’s spa. We loved relaxing near the pool and catching some sun before exploring the rest of the island.

WALK DOWN THE LOPUD’S WATERFRONT

There’s a gorgeous promenade stretching from the Church of St. Mary, Lopud’s most famous landmark, all the way to the edge of the island. You can take a short walk and familiarize yourself with the Lopud village. Grab a drink at one of many bars and cafes, have lunch at one of the restaurants, walk through the stores and souvenir shops, and explore the beaches located at the waterfront.

SHOP LOCAL HANDMADE SOUVENIRS

If you’re one of those people who love coming back home with quality souvenirs, Lopud is a great place for you. There are several souvenir shops on the island, where you can find anything from magnets to clothes and accessories. But, if you like handmade souvenirs, I highly recommend you check out Perla shop. It’s situated right at the center of the waterfront. There you can get handmade magnets, bags, and clothing, as well as postcards made by a local photographer.

VISIT SUTVRAC FORTRESS AT SUNSET

If you like an active holiday, you need to hike up to the Sutvrac Fortress. The ruins of the fort are one of Lopud’s most famous landmarks, and the fortress offers the best panoramic views of Lopud, Adriatic Sea, and the surrounding islands. If you decide to do this, be prepared that it’s a pretty steep climb, but it’s not overly challenging. Make sure you bring water with you and do not go during the hottest part of the day. The best time to go is just before the sunset so you can see the prettiest sunset on Lopud!

HAVE DINNER AT RESTAURANT OBALA

If you’re not staying at RMH Lopud Lafodia, you’ll probably venture out in the village for dinner, and I highly recommend booking a table at restaurant Obala. They have absolutely delicious and fresh seafood, excellent wine options, mouthwatering deserts, and great service. You surely won’t be disappointed by your meal there. The atmosphere is laid-back and romantic, and you definitely get excellent value out of this dinner.

DAY 2: BEACH DAY

Use your second day to relax as much as possible, and what’s a better way to do it than by going to the beach!

ENJOY THE BEACHES OF LOPUD ISLAND

Lopud has several great beaches where you can enjoy swimming in the stunning Adriatic Sea. If you’re staying at RMH Lopud Lafodia, you can enjoy their private beach (one of the nicest on the island). If you want to experience a swim at the most popular beach on the island, you need to visit Šunj beach. This long, sandy beach is around 30 minutes on foot from the main village, or you can get a golf cart taxi to the beach for 3 euros. There are several other beaches on the island, and you can check them out here!

HAVE LUNCH AND A SWIM AT BOWA RESTAURANT

If you’re feeling luxurious and want to treat yourself, book a table at BOWA. BOWA is one of the most glamourous restaurants near Dubrovnik, and it’s located on Šipan. If you do not have a way of getting there, they can pick you up in their speedboat, and there you can experience one of the most relaxing afternoons you could possibly have. The food is amazing, the location is stunning, and the service is exceptional. If you like to indulge in expensive but fabulous meals, this is an experience you shouldn’t miss.

CONCLUSION: 2 DAYS ON LOPUD

Lopud is an incredible place, and honestly, every time I visit I never want to leave. I’d argue that 2 days isn’t really enough to fully experience the island, but if that’s all the time you have, it will still give you a perfect taste of what a holiday on Lopud is all about.

Between the stunning beaches, amazing food, crystal-clear sea, and the charming village atmosphere, it’s the kind of place that makes you slow down and truly relax. And when it’s time to leave, don’t be surprised if you’re already planning your next visit. Saying goodbye to Lopud is never easy!
