I wanted to know what’s the best way to travel from Croatia to Bosnia. I’m planning to either go from Dubrovnik or Split? Also, is it a good idea to rent a car and take it to Bosnia? Is border crossing by land an issue?

It's quite an easy day trip, you can do it by bus, car, or by a guided tour. We did it by car from Dubrovnik and it was really easy. You wouldn't have a problem with a rental car, but you might have to pay extra for leaving the country with the car.
