We are a family of 3 flying from the Northeast United States to Dubrovnik and then back from Split. I started tracking flights in October but didn’t purchase then bc I wasn’t sure what was a deal. I regret it now. Prices went up in November and have come down again but not like October. My question is - are these prices the best I will see or will they go down again. Everything I read says to book international flights 4-6 months in advance and I’m at the 6 month point now, but at the same time end of June is peak season. Do I pull the plug now or keep tracking? Anyone have experience from prior years to share?
EDIT - I’m not looking to go direct, but do want just one stop.
Hey, have you tried looking for a flight to Rome for example or Venice, and from Rome/Venice to Dubrovnik or Split ? Usually there are more reasonable priced tickets to Italy and from Italy there are cheap flights to Croatia during summer time.

Flights in peak season (and in general) never get cheaper closer to the date. That’s a myth. This is not how the revenue management works. In extreme cases , where you had a collapse in demand, airlines may decide to losen the inventory. In the current situation where capacity is less than demand (this situation will continue for years) this will never happen. And especially in the peak season (Jun-Sept for Croatia). So buy whatever the cheapest deal is right now or else pay more later.
I can however offer you a few tips: try flying into Zagreb or Sarajevo. Both are close enough to Dubrovnik (less than a day drive away, or a cheap 20 min flight from Zagreb) and great destinations in their own right. Flying directly is generally not an option (Dubrovnik only has one seasonal intercontinental flight from the US) so you will have to change somewhere in Europe. That gives you a large number of options.
