Hey there, I’m visiting split in the summer coming from Australia, I’m looking at visiting Krka waterfall but I’m there on limited time is it possible to get there myself and visit for a few hours then head back to split so I can still spend some of the day around split or am I best off just booking a pre booked tour for the waterfall thanks
Hey, yeah that is totally doable, we actually did this, visited Krka National Park in the morning and it took us about 3 hours total for the park, the drive was around 1.5h, but you need to go from Lozovac as the main attractions are located there, if you go from Skradin you will first have to take a boat transfer etc. so it takes longer.
If you can rent a car you will be able to get there and back and see the park in about 6h so you have rest of your day free. Also I would suggest check our guide for Krka Waterfalls as it covers most of what you are asking about.
Guide for what to do and see in Split
Also if you will have time you can stop by and see Sibenik, its only 15 minutes away from Krka Waterfalls.

Yes, it is easy enough to visit on your own, on your own schedule from Split. You could take a morning Flixbus (the station is just a 5 walk from the old town) to Skradin. Then when in Skradin, you can buy a ticket from the National Park office and take the boat into the park, which is included with your ticket. By taking this route it will take you to see the main waterfall 'Skradinski Buk', some of the old buildings (mill, small museum, shop, cafes, restaurant etc) and then walk the looped boardwalk trail. Four hours would be enough time to leisurely enjoy these activities, and then before returning to Split you can also explore the small town of Skradin too if you wish. You can stroll the promenade, explore the old town (with its pretty cobbled streets, alleys, squares, restaurants, lovely cafes, and small boutique shops). Take the short walk up to Fortress Turina (free entry, with nice views over the town), go for a refreshing swim and maybe even visit the 'Wine Garden'. Once back in Split it would give you the later afternoon and evening to explore Split, and if you make it back by 5pm you could also consider joining us for a sightseeing and food tour in and around Diocletian's Palace. Our meeting spot is located only a 5 min walk from the bus station and it is great for those who want to see, experience and of course eat a lot who are on a shorter time frame - you can check out our full details at www.splitfoodtour.com Hope this helps, and if you need any more suggestions for your trip, feel free to ask anytime 🙂
