Plenty of people visit Hvar each year, some just for a day trip and some stay a few nights on the island. Those who want to be in the centre of the action usually stay in Hvar Town, while those looking for a more relaxing side of the island often stay outside the town. In this blog post, I’ll show you my favourite hotels and accommodations both in Hvar Town and in other parts of the island. Keep reading!
WHERE IS HVAR?
Hvar is located in southern Croatia, in the Adriatic Sea along the Dalmatian Coast. It’s near Split and other islands like Brac and Vis. You can easily reach it by ferry from Split and several other towns along the coast.
IS IT WORTH STAYING ON HVAR?
It really depends on how much time you have, your budget, and how you want to spend your days. Overall, I’d say it’s definitely worth staying on Hvar Island. If you want a mix of stunning scenery, clear sea, and a lively atmosphere, Hvar is perfect. You can enjoy sunny weather, charming old towns, lively nightlife, and easy access to nearby islands. If you go beyond Hvar Town, you can also have a relaxing holiday away from the crowds. So, I’d say it’s worth it for anyone who can adjust their budget, as Hvar is one of the most expensive places in Croatia.
WHERE TO STAY ON HVAR: HVAR TOWN RECOMMENDATIONS
Palace Elisabeth Hvar Hotel
Palace Elisabeth Hvar Hotel is one of the most popular luxury hotels on Hvar and the perfect choice if you want to stay in the heart of Hvar’s old town. You’ll be right next to St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the historic theatre, surrounded by beautiful old buildings. Depending on the room you choose, you might even enjoy stunning views of the main square, the sea, and colourful sunsets over the nearby islands.
The rooms are gorgeous and incredibly comfortable, and when you’re hungry, you can enjoy fresh Mediterranean dishes at the hotel’s restaurant or a drink on the open terrace. It is quite pricey, but if you’re celebrating a special occasion like a honeymoon or just want a luxurious stay, this hotel is the perfect choice!
Amfora Hvar Grand Beach Resort
Amfora Hvar Grand Beach Resort is absolutely gorgeous and easily ranks in my top three hotels to stay at on Hvar. It’s a great choice if you want to be close to the beach and enjoy stunning sea views. The hotel is in a quiet bay, just a short walk from a public beach, and Hvar Town centre is only about a 10-minute walk away. From most rooms, you can see the Paklinski Islands or the hotel’s beautiful gardens, so your stay is peaceful and relaxing.
The rooms are comfortable and beautiful, but the real star is the large freshwater pool with different levels. For extra luxury, the nearby Beach Club Hvar lets you rent a private cabin or enjoy a massage by the sea. Amfora is perfect if you want comfort, amazing views, and easy access to both the beach and the town.
Adriana Hvar Spa Hotel
For anyone who loves a combination of a great spa and stunning sea views, Adriana Hvar Spa Hotel is an excellent choice. It’s centrally located with amazing views of Hvar Town and the harbour, and it offers several amenities like a rooftop terrace, the Top Bar, and a rooftop pool.
The rooms are comfortable with large beds, but the real highlight is the luxurious Sensori Spa, where you can enjoy the pool, whirlpools, sauna, massages, and more. The food is excellent, the service is friendly, and overall Adriana is perfect if you want comfort, relaxation, and convenience right in the heart of Hvar.
Hotel Park Hvar
Another stunning option right in the heart of town is Heritage Hotel Park Hvar. From here, you can walk to the beach, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, and plenty of shops and cafés in just a few minutes, so you won’t need any transportation to enjoy Hvar Town.
The hotel has comfortable, air-conditioned rooms, most with balconies and sea views. There’s also a garden and terrace for relaxing, plus a restaurant and bar for delicious meals. Heritage Hotel Park Hvar is perfect if you want a central location, cozy comfort, and plenty of activities right on your doorstep.
Hotel Moeesy, Blue & Green Oasis
This may be the most stunning hotel on the island, and it will absolutely leave you speechless. Hotel Moeesy, Blue & Green Oasis is a fantastic choice if you want a peaceful and stylish stay by the sea at an ADULTS-ONLY hotel! You’re right on the waterfront, surrounded by gorgeous gardens and crystal-clear water. While the atmosphere is calm and relaxing, Hvar Town is still just a short walk away.
The rooms are incredible, but the hotel also offers so many amazing amenities. There’s an infinity pool perfect for watching the sunset, an indoor pool, and a spa. You’ll also find a large gym and a restaurant serving high-quality Mediterranean cuisine. Hotel Moeesy is perfect if you want comfort, quiet luxury, and a truly special experience in Hvar. I’d highly recommend it if you’re looking to splurge or make your honeymoon extra unforgettable!
Hvar Top View Apartments
If you’re looking for something more affordable and private, Hvar Top View Apartments is a great option. These apartments are comfortable and offer beautiful views over Hvar Town. You’ll have your own kitchenette, private bathroom, and a balcony where you can relax and enjoy the city views.
Guests can use free WiFi, enjoy the garden, and make use of the barbecue area and bicycle parking. If you’re arriving by car, free private parking is a big plus. You can easily walk to the beach and main sights, while still enjoying your own space, lovely views, and great value in a convenient location.

Oleander Apartment & Room Centar
Finally, my last recommendation is another affordable yet gorgeous option. Oleander Apartment & Room Centar is a great choice if you want a comfortable place to stay right in the heart of Hvar Town. You’ll stay in an air-conditioned apartment with free WiFi, a private bathroom, and your own kitchen. Some units also offer a balcony where you can enjoy lovely views of the city.
The location is one of the biggest advantages, with the beach, main square, and historic sights just a few minutes away on foot. The apartment also offers parking if you need it, although you won’t really need a car if you’re planning to stay in Hvar Town. Oleander is perfect if you want great value for money, a central location, and privacy while exploring Hvar.

WHERE TO STAY ON HVAR: THE REST OF THE ISLAND RECOMMENDATIONS
Valamar Amicor Resort
If you’re looking for an amazing hotel outside of Hvar Town, this one should be at the top of your list. Valamar Amicor Resort is located in Stari Grad, right on the beach, with beautiful sea views. It offers plenty of great amenities, including a sun terrace, lush gardens, an outdoor pool, yoga, fitness and cycling classes, as well as fun activities for children like a small waterpark and games room. Free WiFi is available throughout the entire resort, not just in the rooms.
The rooms are modern, comfortable, and well-equipped with air conditioning, private bathrooms, and views of either the sea or the garden. There are also spacious family suites available if you’re travelling with kids. Valamar Amicor Resort is a perfect choice if you want a relaxing yet active stay on Hvar Island, away from the crowds and nightlife of Hvar Town.
Hotel Hvar
Hotel Hvar is a great choice if you want to stay in the charming town of Jelsa with stunning views of the sea and surrounding islands. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and since the hotel is located on a hillside, you’ll get absolutely beautiful views of the Adriatic, Brac Island, and the Makarska Riviera.
The hotel has a sea-view restaurant and lounge bar where you can enjoy great food and drinks, as well as a small outdoor pool, sun terrace, and olive garden for relaxing. You can also stay active with tennis courts, bike rentals, and a fitness room. There’s a sandy beach just 200 meters away, and the town center is only a short walk away. Hotel Hvar is perfect if you want comfort, amazing views, and easy access to both the beach and town life.
Stella Mare Eco Boutique House
If you want a really quiet and relaxing holiday, check out Stella Mare Eco Boutique House in Zavala. These comfortable studio apartments offer absolutely incredible views of the coast and direct access to the beach. When you’re not in your room, you can relax by the infinity pool, enjoy the sun terrace, or relax in the open-air bath while listening to the waves.
The hotel also has a spa and wellness centre with a sauna, hot tub, yoga classes, and beauty treatments, so you can fully switch off and recharge. The on-site restaurant serves both Italian and Croatian dishes, with options for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free diets. Hotel Fortuna
Hotel Fortuna is a lovely choice if you want to stay right by the beach in the peaceful village of Milna, just 5 kilometres from Hvar Town. The rooms are charming, many with beautiful sea views from their balconies. The absolute best part of this hotel is its location. You’re literally steps away from a gorgeous beach, so you can fully enjoy the Adriatic Sea whenever you want.
The hotel has a restaurant serving fresh Dalmatian and Mediterranean dishes, as well as a bar where you can relax with a drink. You can swim in the outdoor heated pool or rent bikes to explore the surrounding area. Hotel Fortuna is perfect if you’re looking for a comfortable, relaxing beachside stay near Hvar.
Aminess Younique Senses Resort
Another amazing beachfront hotel is Aminess Younique Senses Resort in Vrboska. The rooms are lovely and modern, and the resort is more than fairly priced for what you get, I’d say it’s actually quite affordable.
The resort has a gorgeous outdoor pool, spa and wellness centre, fitness room, and even yoga classes, so you can stay active during your holiday. The restaurant serves great food, and the relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere makes it perfect for all types of travellers. The beach is just a few steps away, so you can easily enjoy the stunning Adriatic Sea every day. Aminess Younique Senses Resort is ideal if you want a fun, comfortable, and good-value stay on Hvar.
Sirena Resort Hvar
Sirena Resort is a wonderful choice if you want a quiet and romantic location close to Hvar Town. This would definitely be in my top three hotels on Hvar, along with Moeesy and Amfora. You’ll stay in a peaceful cove just a short drive from the center, with your own private beach and beautiful sea views. The hotel was fully renovated in 2026, so it looks fresh and modern, and you’ll be among the first guests to enjoy it.
The hotel is truly dedicated to its guests, offering thoughtful services like a free shuttle to town, room service, and concierge support. All you need to do is relax by the pool, on the pebble beach with free sunbeds, or in the Mediterranean garden. You can also work out at the gym, enjoy outdoor massages, or join sessions on the open-air yoga deck. Sirena Resort is perfect if you’re looking for privacy, comfort, and a peaceful yet luxurious escape near Hvar Town.
MY PERSONAL TAKE – WHERE TO STAY ON HVAR
Hvar is quite a luxurious island, so if I were visiting for the first time, I’d try to complement it with a luxurious stay, such as Moeesy or Sirena Resort. However, if you don’t have the budget for that, you can still have an incredible time on Hvar. You can book one of the more affordable options, such as Oleander Apartment or the Aminess Resort, and still enjoy everything the island has to offer. There’s no need to stay directly in Hvar Town anyway, since you should definitely explore the rest of the island too!
CONCLUSION: WHERE TO STAY ON HVAR
Wherever you choose to stay on Hvar, you’re sure to have a wonderful time. The island is gorgeous, and you don’t need to stay in Hvar Town to experience it fully. Hvar Town is beautiful but often crowded, so it’s best if you want to be in the center of everything with lively nightlife. For any other type of holiday, there are plenty of amazing hotels, resorts, and apartments across the island, all offering unforgettable and unique experiences!
