HARRY POTTER STUDIOS, THE GOBLET OF FIRE ANNIVERSARY TOUR: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW!
If you’re a Harry Potter fan, you know that visiting the Harry Potter Studios in London is magical any time of year. This year, we had the chance to experience the Goblet of Fire anniversary, and it was absolutely incredible!
Visiting the studios is a dream come true for any Potterhead, but it’s also an unforgettable experience for anyone who’s even a little familiar with the books or movies. I honestly can’t recommend it enough, and we try to visit whenever we can. This post will quickly go over the basic info and then focus on all the amazing extras that came with the Goblet of Fire anniversary!

HARRY POTTER STUDIOS LONDON – IMPORTANT INFORMATION
No matter when you plan to visit the Harry Potter Studios, this is important to know. The studio isn’t actually in London despite the name. It’s in Leavesden, Watford, about 35 km north of central London. It’s a super popular attraction, especially on weekends, during school holidays, or when special events are on, and you’ll want to set aside about 3.5 to 4 hours to fully enjoy the tour.
When it comes to tickets, definitely book them in advance, as early as possible. Both times we visited, we booked our tickets 4 months ahead, and even then, for our Goblet of Fire anniversary visit we couldn’t get our first-choice date. Tickets are sold online through the official website, so make that your first stop once you decide to go.
Even though the Harry Potter Studios aren’t actually in London, getting there is super easy. If you have a car in the city, you can just drive yourself. If not, you can take a train from London Euston to Watford Junction, then hop on the official studio shuttle. This is the option we always take. Train tickets are about €35 for a return trip, and the shuttle is free. If you’re driving, there’s a free car park for visitors, but make sure you have your booking confirmation ready to show when you arrive.

GOBLET OF FIRE ANNIVERSARY: WHAT’S NEW?
Demonstration of the Beauxbatons and Durmstrang students’ arrival to Hogwarts
This was definitely the most exciting new addition for the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire anniversary at the studios. There was a stage set up next to Hagrid’s Hut where performers dressed as students from the two international schools made their grand entrance. They started at the beginning of the tour and recreated their arrival just like in the movie, then continued with a joint performance on stage. It was short but super fun to watch, lasting just a few minutes, and they repeated it every 30 minutes so each new group could see it.
Additional Goblet of Fire costumes
They also added a few extra costumes for the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire anniversary, including outfits worn by the four champions and their parents, plus costumes for Professor Moody, Madame Maxime, and Rita Skeeter. There were also some Quidditch uniforms on display, and even a small new section in the Forbidden Forest. They weren’t huge showstoppers, but still a fun little update alongside all the iconic costumes already on display!
New Activity Passport!
One of the best things you can do at Harry Potter Studios is to grab a free activity passport, which makes the whole experience a bit more interactive. This time, the passport was themed around Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, with new stamps and fun little tasks inside. It’s honestly my favorite free souvenir to bring home!
The Backlot Stage
One of the best new additions is the Backlot Stage. It’s a big cinema-like room where they explain and showcase how certain scenes from the films were created. For the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire anniversary, they showed how they designed and animated the dragons for the First Task, as well as how they filmed the underwater scenes with Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. They even had a fun surprise at the end of the presentation. Filming isn’t allowed inside, but this feature is still running, and it seems like they plan to keep it while rotating the themes depending on the current tour or movie focus.
The Castle & the visual effects
The Hogwarts Castle model is always one of the most breathtaking parts of the tour, and during the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire anniversary it had some of the prettiest visual effects projected onto it. It’s a quick part of the visit, but it was so beautiful it honestly made me gasp!
Put your name in the Goblet of Fire!
A really fun addition was the Goblet of Fire at the end of the tour. In your activity passport, there’s a page where you can write your name and then drop it into the goblet. It’s interactive, so once you place your name inside, it glows red. It’s such a simple but fun little touch and makes for a great photo op!
HPS GOBLET OF FIRE ANNIVERSARY: WAS IT WORTH VISITING?
Absolutely! Harry Potter Studios tour is always worth visiting no matter what features are on during your trip, but this one felt extra special and nostalgic. The live demonstrations from the visiting schools and the chance to put your name into the Goblet of Fire were such fun touches. If they ever bring this feature back, you definitely have to go!
