Tenerife is home to incredible nature
Tenerife is a paradise for nature lovers. I’m usually more into city breaks than exploring the great outdoors, but this island completely blew me away. Every day was jaw-dropping, from the incredible Mount Teide to the stunning forests of Anaga Rural Park.
Teide National Park is an absolute must-see, but don’t miss out on the breathtaking Masca Valley or the towering Los Gigantes Cliffs that rise straight from the ocean. Plus, the marine life here is something you won’t find anywhere else in Europe.
Tenerife has some of the most amazing beaches
If you’re a beach lover, this island is your heaven! Tenerife’s beaches are simply amazing. Whether you’re after soft golden sand, cool black volcanic shores, or hidden little coves, this island’s got you covered. Tenerife has great weather year-round
Tenerife’s weather is pretty amazing all year round. You can count on warm temperatures and lots of sunshine, so it’s a great place to visit anytime. The north is a bit greener and cooler, while the south is sunnier and drier. We went in winter, and the weather was perfect for spending hours outside exploring. It wasn’t too hot, but it also wasn’t warm enough for swimming. However, getting to see snow on Mount Teide was totally amazing!

You can explore the breathtaking mount Teide
Mount Teide is the crown jewel of Tenerife and an absolute must-see when visiting the island. It’s the highest peak in Spain, and the national park around it is one of the most visited in the world! There are a few ways to explore the park, and the best part is that entry is free, so you can just drive through and stop wherever catches your eye. For those wanting to reach the summit, you can hop on the cable car. The Teleférico del Teide takes you up to 3,555 meters, so there’s just a short hike left to the top. You can take in the amazing views from there, or if you’re up for more of a challenge, you can get a permit to hike all the way to the summit. For the more adventurous, there’s also the Montaña Blanca trail, which will take you all the way to the top.
You can visit amazing rural parks
Tenerife isn’t just about beaches and Mount Teide. The island has rural parks which are absolutely stunning and show a whole different side of the island. The rural parks are filled with green forests, deep ravines, and charming traditional villages. Our absolute favorites were Anaga Rural Park (a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve with ancient laurel forests, misty trails, and dramatic cliffs) and Teno Rural Park (home to the breathtaking Masca Valley and Punta de Teno, with mountains, deep gorges, and incredible coastal views). These parks are perfect for anyone looking to explore Tenerife’s wild beauty!
Tenerife is full of outdoor adventures
If you’re someone who loves adventure, Tenerife is definitely the place for you. The island offers a ton of outdoor activities, so whether you’re into hiking, water sports, or just seeking some thrills, you’ll find something exciting to do.
You can hike through Anaga Rural Park or Teide National Park, go whale and dolphin watching from Los Cristianos or Costa Adeje, or try surfing at Playa de Las Américas. For those into windsurfing, El Médano is a must-visit, or you can even kayak around the huge Los Gigantes Cliffs. Tenerife is the perfect spot for anyone craving adventure!
You can enjoy Siam Park – one of the best water parks in the world
Siam Park in Tenerife is one of the best water parks in the world, and if you’re an adventure lover, it’s the perfect day trip. The park offers an incredible mix of thrilling water rides, relaxing lazy rivers, and beautiful Thai-inspired architecture. It’s perfect for all ages, but it’s especially loved by families with children. It’s located in Costa Adeje and you can reach it easily from any southern part of the island. The entrance tickets are not cheap, but if this is something you like, it won’t disappoint!
Tenerife can be very budget-friendly
If you’re travelling on a budget, Tenerife could be the ideal destination for you. Tenerife can be incredibly budget-friendly if you plan wisely.
There are lots of affordable hotels, hostels, and even Airbnb options, so you don’t have to spend a fortune on accommodation, especially if you’re not staying in the south. Plus, there are plenty of local restaurants or tascas (small eateries) where you can grab tasty, inexpensive meals or tapas.
When it comes to sightseeing, many of Tenerife’s most breathtaking spots, like Anaga Rural Park, Teide National Park, Masca, and Punta de Teno, are totally free to visit. You can spend hours enjoying the island’s natural beauty without spending a penny.
For getting around, I’d recommend renting a car. While it might cost a bit more upfront, parking is free, there are no tolls, and we only spent about 50 euros on gas for the whole week! But if renting a car isn’t in your budget, don’t worry—Tenerife has an excellent public bus system (the TITSA network) that’s super affordable.

Tenerife is super easy to explore, especially if you have a car. The island is pretty small, so you can travel from one side to the other in under 2 hours. Even if you’re relying on public transport, there are plenty of bus routes that reach even the more remote spots. If you’re worried about getting around, don’t stress, it’s really simple!
