We won’t be going anywhere else - just Cavtat

We are joining an organized 8-day tour of Croatia that will start in Split and end in Dubrovnik. My husband and I decided to extend our stay for 4 more days and visit Montenegro. we will pickup a rental car in Dubrovnik. We are interested in going to Mostar, Kotor, Budva.
Where does it make sense to stay, as our base, so we won’t have to keep moving hotels? Or does it not make sense to just stay in one place for what we want to do? I am hoping someone has suggestions. We don’t want to rush ; we are in our late 50s and not going to try to see everything - just those that are worth seeing.
please share your thoughts.
One more thing: we will need to drive back to Dubrovnik since our flight home is from Dubrovnik airport.

I've seen such questions answered with "rent a car" or "go somewhere else, maybe to Mostar" but I don't have a driving licence to rent a car and I will have to stay in Ivanica. I have a good flight connection from Dubrovnik early in the morning so that's my main concern - how do I get there from Ivanica? Additionally I will arrive to Ivanica two days in advance so I thought that maybe I can see the city of Dubrovnik - again, how do I get there with no driving licence 😅

Hi all! 👋

I’m planning to take the ferry from Drvenik to Sućuraj (Hvar) on a Saturday in mid-June with a car. I’ll be driving up to Drvenik from Dubrovnik that morning, and I’m trying to figure out how tightly I need to plan things.

A few specific questions:

Can I reserve a vehicle spot in advance? Is it possible to book a car spot online for this route, or is it strictly first-come, first-served when you arrive at the port?

How large do vehicle lines usually get on Saturdays in June? Since I’m coming from Dubrovnik, I’m wondering how early I realistically need to arrive in Drvenik. Are lines already long by mid-morning in peak season?

Do I need to aim for the first ferry of the day? Or is it generally possible to catch a later morning / early afternoon sailing without risking being stuck for hours?

Any insight from people who’ve done this drive + ferry combo would be hugely appreciated — especially real-world timing tips and how early you arrived 😅

Thanks in advance!

Hi! Looking for a quick check on a Croatia itinerary for mid-May. We’re a couple traveling with a 15-month-old, so we’re prioritizing walkability, flexibility, and not overpacking days.

Current plan:

Dubrovnik: 3–4 nights

Korčula: 3 nights

Hvar: 2–3 nights

Split: 4–5 nights

Specific questions:

Is this still too much movement with a toddler, or reasonable for 13–14 days?

Is Korčula + Hvar redundant, or do they feel distinct enough?

Any strong opinions on Krka NP with a stroller or baby carrier?

Anything you’d swap out or simplify?

Would love feedback, especially from anyone who’s done Croatia with young kids. Thanks!

Hello!

I will be going to Korcula for about two nights in July and was wondering if those of you who have been to this island believe a wine tour is worth it? The tour we have in mind would be about 3-4 hours in the afternoon, stops at two wineries on different sides of the island, and costs about $130 a person. We were also considering just taking a taxi to a winery from the main town, so trying to decide between the two. My other worry is that since we only have two nights, maybe we shouldn’t spend the time on a wine tour, although we’ve heard the island is known for it.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thank you!

A couple of years back, I did a road trip in Slovenia that included: Logar Valley, Kamniska Bistrica Valley, Kamnik, Vintgar Gorge, Lake Bohinj, Lake Bled, Vrsic Pass, Bovec, Kobarid, Postojna Cave, and some other places. I had a terrific time, mainly thanks to the fantastic scenery. I'm now looking to go somewhere with similar scenery for a week in the first week of April (Easter period).

My key requirements are daytime temperatures over 12 degrees centigrade, not too much rain, and options for 2 or 3 half-day hikes (up to 12 KMs each). I have no interest in archaeological sites. Since I'll be renting a car, I'd prefer to fly into and out of the same airport.

One of the three places I'm considering is Northern Croatia (flying into Zagreb). I still have to research and prepare a detailed itinerary, but these places seem interesting: Velebit Mountains, Plitvice Lakes, Zumberak Nature Park, Velika Paklenica Gorge, Krka National Park, Šibenik, Rastoke.

Can anyone familiar with this region give their opinion on whether it would suit my requirements in terms of scenery, weather, and hiking opportunities?
